Privacy notice

The Word Game is in beta. This page explains what we save and how we use it.

Your account

We save your display name, profile color, game results, daily streaks, awards, karma, friends, and invites. Your name, email, and phone number stay private. A phone number is optional. If you verify one, we store it and use Twilio Verify to send account verification and sign-in codes. Requesting a code does not enroll you in marketing texts. Verified contact methods restore the same profile and history; we do not combine profiles just because contact information matches. Other players see your display name.

If you choose Sign in with ChatGPT, we save an account identifier and email to link and restore your game profile. The emails must match. When email is connected, our email provider sends sign-in links and welcome messages. Welcome messages are sent after account verification. Notification preferences start on and can be unchecked during signup or changed in Profile. Device alerts need your permission. When notification delivery is connected, OneSignal sends a reminder five minutes after your turn starts and a daily reminder if today’s challenge is unfinished. It uses a device subscription and a private profile identifier. You can turn off reminders in Profile or in your device settings.

Games and chat

We save online games and chat so players can reconnect. Room chat is for the two players. Reports include recent messages for review. Blocking stops future matching and chat with that player.

Shared score links are public. They show the result and letter counts, but no words, private names, or emails. Your display name is included only if you choose to share it.

On your device

A cookie saves your guest daily attempt. Browser storage saves your profile key, letter notes, practice results, chat settings, and downloaded app files.

Clearing browser data may erase your guest progress. Guest progress does not transfer between browsers. Signed-in daily progress stays with your account.

Game activity

We record visits, game starts and finishes, score shares, Plus views, and checkout starts. These activity records do not include chat text, guessed words, private names, or emails. Anonymous identifiers help estimate returning players.

Payments

Plus subscriptions accept real payments through Stripe. Any earlier test memberships do not carry over to paid subscriptions.

Stripe handles payment details and subscriptions. We save customer references and subscription status, but not full card details. Sites and its infrastructure providers host and store the game. We do not sell account or chat data.

Your choices

You can edit your account, mute chat alerts, block players, and report messages. Keep recovery keys and sign-in links private.

Request account deletion from Profile. Our support team reviews these requests. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Cancel separately through Manage subscription.
